2025 Yamaha Jet Boat Lineup: What’s New & How to Pick Your Perfect Fit

Jun. 13 2025 News By G&R Marine

Fresh engines, smarter tech, and a hull for every style—Yamaha’s 2025 fleet is its most dialed-in yet. Below you’ll find what changed, a side-by-side model rundown, buying tips, and a look at how G&R Marine keeps you on the water long after delivery.

What’s New for 2025?

  • All-new 1.9 L High-Output engine – Yamaha retired the trusty 1.8 L block for an 1,898 cc HO that delivers quicker hole-shot, stronger mid-range, and the largest displacement of any jet-boat motor today. It now powers every 19-, 22-, and 25-foot series boat.

  • DRiVE X joystick control on more boats – First seen on the 255XD, DRiVE X adds wheel-mounted paddles and buttons that let you crab sideways, spin in place, or hold against a dock with fingertip ease; it’s now standard on the 255XD and optional on other 25-foot family models.

  • Helm Master EX on a jet-powered center console – The 255 FSH Sport H is the world’s first jet boat to feature Helm Master EX, giving anglers the same precision joystick positioning usually reserved for big outboards.

  • Larger, brighter Connext® 12.3″ touch-screens – Split-screen charts, engine data, camera feeds, and SurfPointe™ presets are now standard on SD/XD trims and available on select 22-foot models.

  • Sharper hull chines & comfort upgrades – Tweaked running surfaces on 22- and 25-foot decks improve bite in chop, while new Chill-Cool™ upholstery keeps seats up to 30 °F cooler under summer sun.

How to Pick Your Perfect Fit

  1. Match length to your home water

<20 ft slips into Bantam Lake coves and single-axle drives; 22–25 ft adds freeboard for Connecticut River rollers or Long Island Sound hops.

  2. Define the mission

    • Surf every session? Grab the Wake Series for 3,000 lb of ballast, SurfPointe™ jet nozzles, and DRiVE X.

    • Lines in the water? The 255 FSH Sport H gives you Helm Master EX, dual live-wells, and a fish-ready transom.

    • Budget lake cruising? The AR190/195 pairs grins-per-dollar with a tow-anywhere 2,434-lb dry weight.

  3. Check storage & tow limits – A 25-footer on trailer weighs ~6,000 lb wet; many midsize SUVs max out around 5,000. Verify your GVWR before you fall in love.

  4. Think long-term tech & resale – Bigger Connext screens, DRiVE X, and the 1.9 L HO will feel current longer, boosting trade-in value five-plus years down the line.

Why Go Jet? Safety, Shallow Draft & Simplicity

  • No exposed prop means safer swimming and cleaner tow-rope work.

  • Shallow 15-inch draft gets you closer to sandbars and shoreline picnics than stern-drive competitors.

  • Closed-loop cooling reduces salt-water corrosion by circling fresh coolant through the block instead of raw sea-water.

  • Single-lever winterization lets most owners fog the engine and drain water in under ten minutes—great for shoulder-season boaters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much maintenance does a Yamaha jet boat need?

A: Aside from annual oil/filter service, the closed-loop cooling and single-lever winterization keep upkeep minimal. Most owners budget 5–7 hours of DIY or dealer service per season.

Q: Can I wakesurf behind a jet boat?

A: Yes! The 255XD, 252SD, and 222XE include SurfPointe™ nozzles and up to 3,000 lb of ballast, producing clean, surfable waves without a prop in the danger zone.

Q: Do jet boats handle salt water?

A: Absolutely. Yamaha’s closed-loop system keeps corrosive seawater out of the block; just rinse the jet pump after each trip and you’re good to go.
